Nat Phillips, a professional and compassionate counsellor offering talk therapy to adults and teens across New Zealand.

I’m originally from the beautiful Christchurch city and, after some years of moving around both within NZ and abroad, I’ve been settled in the hustle and bustle of Auckland since 2017. My spouse and I, along with our rescue dog, Annie, have made West Auckland our home. My joys in life are my whānau, nature, art, writing, and simply existing in the quiet moments that life sometimes allows.

I have extensive experience in providing collaborative, holistic, and engaging support to people in various professional contexts, including mental health, education, life-skills coaching, and the disability sector. My commitment is to provide a safe, nurturing space where individuals can explore their feelings, find solutions, and build resilience at a pace that feels comfortable for them.

I currently offer both online therapy sessions for clients aged 13+. I have relatively flexible availability, with times available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

My approach

My counselling approach is person-centered and pluralistic. This means that I will work collaboratively with each client to develop therapeutic goals which are meaningful to them. It also means that I will pull from a variety of counselling modalities to create a tailor-made approach addressing the unique needs of the person I’m supporting. I like to include creativity, play, and imagination when working with children.

Some of the modalities that inform my practice include:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT)

  • Narrative Therapy

  • Psychodynamic Therapy

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
